SMC achieved great success in publishing papers at international top conferences, and international students performed brilliantly
In 2024, the number of papers by teachers and students of the School of Media and Communication of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and accepted at the four major international top academic conferences in the field of communication - the International Communication Association (ICA), the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), the American Association of Journalism and Mass Communication Education (AEJMC) and the National Communication Association (NCA) reached a new high. A total of 131 high-quality papers were accepted, and 6 student paper awards were won at the three major conferences of IAMCR, AEJMC and NCA, fully demonstrating the school's strong research strength and high international academic influence.
It is worth mentioning that in the evaluation of paper awards at this year's top international academic conferences, the performance of the school's international students was particularly outstanding. With their international perspective, profound academic insight and solid research level, they have won high recognition from the international academic community. Among them, John Maina Karanja, a doctoral student from Kenya, successfully won the "Third Place Paper, Student Paper Competition" of AEJMC and the "Top Student Paper in Public Relations" of NCA. Noureddin Yeilaghi and Ali Ghanbarian from Iran won the "Top Student Paper Award in Political Communication" of NCA respectively. Their awards further enhanced the international academic reputation of the school.
