Dr. Meng Chen obtained her Ph.D. in Communication from the University of California, Davis. She served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Media and Communication at Webster University Vienna, Austria (2019-2021). In September 2021, she joined the School of Media and Communication at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She was selected for Shanghai Overseas High-Level Talent Program (2021), Austrian Overseas Research Talent Program (2018). 

Her research focuses on science communication (particularly in environmental and health domains), intelligent media and communication, and information behavior in new media. Her academic papers have been published in SSCI-indexed journals including Health Communication, Communication Research, Science Communication, Social Media & Society, Social Science Computer Review, Psychology & Health, and Computers in Human Behavior. Dr. Chen serves as a peer reviewer for 20 international academic journals, including New Media & Society and Information, Communication & Society.
